Almond Village Board

Regular Meeting

August 12, 2024

5:00pm

Present: B. Roehrborn, D. Johnson, D. Schultz, D. Warzynski, L. Helmrick, C. Smith, H Burns

Visitors:  Greg Otto, Bob Weinert, Warren Dombrowski

Meeting was called to order at 5:00 pm by President B. Roehrborn

Pledge of Allegiance was said.

L. Helmrick a motion, seconded by D. Warzynski to approve the minutes from the July 8, 2024 board meeting.  Motion approved 4-0.

Treasurer’s report – H. Burns gave the treasurer’s report.  D. Warzynski made a motion, seconded by L. Helmrick to approve the treasurer’s report.  Motion approved 4-0.

Finance report:  D. Johnson gave the finance report.  L. Helmrick made a motion, seconded by D. Warzynski to approve the bills.  Motion approved 4-0

Public Input-Warren Dombrowski appeared before the board asking different question about his property.  It was recommended he bring a plan back to request a variance.

Bob Weinert, Portage County Emergency Management-presented the board with information on the Mitigation Plan Update for the Village.  We will put this on the September agenda to further discuss it and bring back recommendations from the board members.

Public Works- We received one bid for the Oak Street Project.  It was from American Asphalt for $38,698.85. D. Warzynski made a motion, seconded by L. Helmrick to approve the bid by American Asphalt.  Motion approved 4-0.

Fire/EMS – The Joint Fire Committee met on August 8, 2024.  The Committee approved the budget for 2025 and sent their recommendations to the Village and Town board to increase the budget by 2%.  This would be an increase of $480.91, a total of $240.46 for each the Town and the Village.  A total budget of $49,053.27.

Properties – The salt shed needs some repairs.

Ordinance/Personnel – The public is concerned about the condition of the Scott Boelter property.  The village has sent out notices to Scott to improve his property, but will send out another.

Equipment – Time to start looking for a different pickup truck as our has many issues.  Our new leased tractor arrived last Friday.

Zoning – one shed

Cemetery – Work is going to start on this Wednesday on some of the wall repairs.

Beautification – None

Media/Sewer Clerk – Newsletters went out.  It appears on the website.

L. Helmrick made a motion, seconded by D. Schultz to adjourn.  Motion approved 4-0
